Hi,Had my flu jab a week ago today and within two days went down with a really bad cold, sore throat and chest. GP says it's not related to the jab but I wondered if any of you went down with a bad cold after having it done. Feeling so rotten todaySad Brenda.

Hi Brenda,
Last year my husband and I had the swine flu jab, and I was meant to go for a second, but due to having sinus and cold problems after, didn't bother. My husband was worse, and ended up with chest infection, needing antibiotics and steroids, therefore this year has decided to have none. This year I had the combined flu injection, but again had sinus and cold problems. However I balance this with the thought of how bad it would be if I actually had flu or swine flu. Touch wood I have never experienced flu.
Hope you feel better soon.

I have had flu jab every year since i was 17 i am now 57 No its not the flu jab .The swine flu jab you might get a slight fever afterwards but not the flu Jab its never ever afected me .
Flu is very nasty if you get it it gave me phemomea and chest infections for years afterwards as cheast was weak .

Please have the flu jab and forget about being ill .

Hi

hope you are feeling a bit better , i was lucky i had mine a week ago and have been ok but some of my friends have been teribble,
is it due to the meds you are taking because i am on loads of pain killers and enbrel injections and i had to make sure that the jab that i had was dead virus and not live I know some of the gps give the live one and some meds do react to it like that, you need to talk to your rummy nurse when you next go and see what they say.

I hope you feel better soon.

Audrey.

Hi again,Just resurfacing after almost three days in bed with the rotten flu virus.Sad GP says it's not to do with the flu jab I had just under two weeks ago but I'm not so sure. It's turned into a chest infection but he hasn't given me any antibioltics just said to take regular doses of paracetamol.Hav'nt been able to eat much and feel quite weak so know it must be a bad bout.I wondered at what stage a GP will prescribe antibiotics? This is my ninth day of it and can't seem to clear the chestiness.Still have to take MTX and Hydroxy though.Anyone else had a really bad bout of it this year? Brenda.

I can't give medical advice, but it does seem a bit strange for you not to be given antibiotics when you have a chest infection. C.I's are the bain of my life - I usually get at least 3 a year but am always shoved straight onto antibiotics. Maybe it depends on the severity of the infection. I am also told to come off the RA drugs for the duration, as the a.b's are not usually as effective when the immune system is further compromised. Really hope you soon start to feel better. If the chest infection feels to be getting worse, please go back to the doctor. xxx

Hi

I had my flu jab today, this is the first one I have had in years but i wasn't told to expect any side effects. But then i was in and out of the nurses room within a couple of minutes, she jabbed me in the arm and sent me off!

Poor you, I've had flu once and its horrible isn't it, hope you feel better soon. I've heard there is a lot of nasty fluey bugs about.

Take Care

Sorry to hear that you have so poorly.

I think 9 days is a long time to be poorly. I would give him a ring if I were you as it is rotten
to have flu or flu symptoms. I am 56 and had flu twice - ugh.

Thank you all for your good wishes.Smile Feel a lot better today though chest is still sore but not coughing as much.My GP is one of those doctors who are loathe to prescribe antibiotics for flu but because of the RA I thought he might have made an exception.Hopefully by the weekend I will see the back of it.I'm still sure it was to do with having the flu jab.First time I've ever had one done.Going to venture out tomorrow for a bit of exercise and fresh air.
